The Secretariat of the WTO is seeking to fill two positions of Text Processing Operator I (French-speaking) in the French Unit of the Text Processing Section in the Languages, Documentation and Information Management Division. The positions are subject to local recruitment only and the status of selected candidates will be that of locally recruited, in accordance with the WTO Staff Rule 103.1. Serving staff members interested in the position are also invited to apply.

General Functions Under the supervision of the Unit Coordinator, the incumbents will carry out the following tasks:

  • 1. 
    Typing documents using personal computers including: copy typing, transcribing from digital and analogue recordings, preparation of basic tables, basic document formatting, correspondence and finalization (incorporating translator's and reviser's and other corrections into text).
  • 2. 
    Reading documents being checked by others.
  • 3. 
    Any other tasks as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Completion of secondary school and/or secretarial or equivalent commercial school; passage of the Text Processing Operator I qualifications test (typing at 50 words per minute, typing from dictation and entering corrections electronically from a heavily hand-corrected document - all with defined minimum standards).

Knowledge and skills:

A good knowledge of Microsoft WORD; ability to operate dictaphones and digital dictation machines.

Work Experience:

At least two years' experience in the occupational area in order to be familiar with the processing of correspondence and documents.

Languages:

The work requires an excellent knowledge of French and some knowledge of English or Spanish.

Additional Information:

It should be noted that the local recruitment status of successful applicants will not change due to skills acquired or promotion obtained during service with the WTO.

The positions may be offered at a lower grade if the selected candidates do not fully meet all the required qualifications.
